your sentence means you have been together for 3 years and you are now living together .
Not sure what relevance this has to immigration .
The sentence you gave does not mean you have been living together for 3 years .
Partner in immigration terms usually means in a relationship like marriage ; living together sharing bills . Not a boyfriend or girlfriend dating relationship .
Your question then poll suggested answers and then your post are all slightly different . Why not ask a straightforward question .
Like I have been dating a person for 3 years we just moved in together am I able to apply for ........... !

It depends on the category you are referring to, but most categories require you to have been living together like in a marriage. Not we have been going to the movies together once a week.

Ok, here is the straight forward question,
I have applied ILR (10 yrs lawful residence)about 8 weeks ago, I wrote a covering letter with the application, just wanted UKBA to let know how I have adapted to life here etc.... so I wrote the following sentence, without thinking too much,
"I feel very much settled and adapted to life in Britain which I now consider to be my home, where I live with my partner of 3 years and where my social circle is based. "
but in reality we often living together in my shared accomodation, I rented under my name. He is an European citizen, which I didnt mention anything else about him in the letter other than the above sentence. we are in a committed serious relatioship, having future plans together, in nutshell....we are more than a boy freind girlfreind. Only thing is we don't live together in cohabit basis, so we didnt really think of moving together as he is planning to buy a house, we were thinking to move in together once he done it. So we never had a joint account or shared bills, or documents to the same address either.
UKBA has replied me few days ago, that they would like me to send more docs including those docs. But I did not expected that or plan that, as I was eligible for ILR 10 yrs rule, which the relationship is dsnt matter at all.
Im in really stressful situation now, how am I going to explain the situation now, Im worried if i said i cannot provide the documents they need, I will be rejected...
