Tier 1 (G) ILR Approved at Croydon PEO – 4th April

Post by Mind_The_Gap » Mon Apr 07, 2014 9:02 am

Hi everyone,

First and foremost, a big round of thanks to all the fellow members and more so to the moderators who have made this a wonderful forum.

Here’s my experience:

7:30am Arrived at Lunar House (the world is a better place thanks to Google maps)

7:35am Was let in through security (airport style – scan bags, take off belt, metal detector)
Asked to go to third floor and wait in the waiting area (with a little Costa coffee in the middle)

8:00am Asked to queue for token (asked for payment sheet, passport and SET (O) form)

8:02am Token number called to counter (asked for payment sheet, SET (O) form, photos and asked to place all docs into a folder)

8:10am Told to move on to another counter to take the biometrics and sign. Was also asked if I would like to wait in the cafeteria or go outside. Chose to stay inside

9:00am Saw the decision had been taken on the screen

9:05am Number called, handed docs, passport and approval letter

11:00am Had a steak and kidney pie with two well-deserved pints (not an alcoholic :P)

Docs submitted

* Set (O) form
* Passport / Biometric Card
* 2 photos (for only 20p – click here for details)
* 12 month Payslips and corresponding Bank statements
* IELTS certificate (expired)
* Life in the UK pass letter
* Employer absence letter
* UK experience (self-explanatory from payslips)
* Education (none given – stated I’d met these conditions earlier)

Calculation of application date

01/05/09* + 4years 11months 2days** = on or after Thursday 03/04/14

* 90 day concession (page22): The entry clearance stamp date is counted as the date of the start of the 5 year lawful residence not the Entry date in the UK itself, under the condition that the Tier 1 G migrant enter within 90 days of the EC.

** 28 days - Please do not send us your application more than 28 days before you become eligible to apply. If you do, we may refuse your application with no refund of the application fee (if a fee is charged for your application type). However, you must make your application before your current permission to stay in the UK expires.

Timeline

Entry Clearance Stamp: 01/05/09 (out of country)
Entered UK: 01/06/09
Tier 1 (G) valid till: 30/05/14
Croydon PEO ILR approval: 04/04/14

All the best,

Dear Mind_the_gap,

Did you submit employer absence letter because you have work related absences or you have personal holiday?

Hi Travelite8,

The employer absence letter was in reference to my annual leave.

Hi sak20099,

I had my p60s (in a separate folder) with me but as they didn't ask for it, I didn't provide it.

My tuppence, if I may - keep it simple. Give them what they ask for and just in case keep any other docs ready.

Did they ask for Employer Absence letter? If not, it is a mandatory?

Hi travelite8,

As they have asked for it on the Set(O) form, I am led to believe that it is mandatory. However you do other options as stated below:

Set (O) Form Page 15 Section 6.3

What evidence has been provided to support the reasons for all absences from the UK?
* Letter(s) from employer(s) detailing reasons for work-related absences including periods of paid annual leave from the UK?
* Letter from applicant detailing reasons for absence due to compelling or compassionate reasons
* Original official documents: (medical/birth/death certificate(s))
* Letter from travel companies to evidence disruption to travel
* Other

Hi Sak20099,

They ask for specific docs when you are taking the token, when initial details are taken and while taking your biometrics.

It's only when you are finally giving them to a CW (whom you will not meet at Croydon) you are asked to put all the docs into a plastic folder.

Hi MindTheGap,

What confused me is the form mentioned 'work-related' absences. I took my annual leave is not for work-related, so I thought, maybe I don't need to submit Employer Absence letter. Is that correct?
I havent asked my employer for that letter, but like you said, I hope to keep it simple too.

Hi Travelite8,

If you were employed during your leave, this implies the holiday (in spite of it being personal and not work related) is part of your paid annual leave. Consequently, it'd wise to get a letter.

and Thanks if i understand correctly
During token/biometrics they ask you for the specs doc you mention/provided above
while rest of them put in a separate file , you keep it with you.
kindly correct if understanding is wrong >

Hi sak20099,

That is correct, it's right before the biometrics that you are handed with a plastic folder to put all the relevant docs inside. It's this plastic folder that is given to the case worker.

Thanks Travelite8.

My mistake - forget to include the PBS calculator printout in the original post. Most of the previous posts on this forum have recommended you take a PBS caluclator printout. I did include one with my application.

Congratulations :)

Are you ok to clarify When answering question 7.11 in SET O "How long have you lived in the UK?", how do i calculate the duration of UK stay? Should it be from the date of first entry , till date (which is close to 4 years and 8 months) or should it be from the visa start date (in which case it is 4 years and 11 months)?

Hi neesh,

Thanks!

If you entered within the Tier 1 (G) 90 day concession period, the answer to question 7.11 on the SET O form is 4years 11months.

Hi Mind_the_Gap,

What did your employer mention in the letter when you had been out of the country but for personal reasons like holiday or meeting the family.

Also, did you have any letter to explain your personal absences?

Do you have a template or sample letter?
