Passport Application Following Naturalisation Question

Post by chibihito » Mon Jun 23, 2014 9:25 am

Hi,

Those of you who have applied for the Irish passport following Naturalisation, what documents did you submit with your application?

In one place it states that one form of ID is required(passport/driver's licence/college ID), in others that the application must be submitted with the passport from the country of yours origin and one other ID. My problem is that I do not hold a valid passport from my country but I do have an expired passport, was anyone else in a similar situation?

Cannot get through to the passport office through the phone, does anyone know if they have an email address?

Use passport express, go to any post office get an application, but the most important thing is that you need to stamp it from your local Garda station not any Garda station. I think a copy of your expired passport along with any sort of ID like driver's license is ok with utility bills and birth cert and original cert of naturalisation. and you need to keep tracking it because as difficult as it is getting the irish citizenship, the postman just throws the envelope containing the passport without registering it, so you will need to be at home while he comes with it, especially if you have a dog

Provide your nat cert, expired passport from your country of original citizenship (this will serve as a form of photo-ID, even if it's expired), two utility bills or bank statements, marriage cert if applicable, birth cert, payslip and P60 if you are working or social welfare receipts

email address is either passportcork@dfa.ie or passportdublin@dfa.ie depending on which office your application is going to go to, but don't expect an answer any time this century

guys, i hav a doubt about passport express. does the anpost help in filling the form? or do thy cross check the filled in application form before submiting thm? i was reading somewhere that take a special envelope from anpost for passport express service and hand over the ''unsealed envelope'' along with all documents.

if some1 on ths forum can scan and upload a filled application form, it can be a grt help to others.

regards

I doubt anyone would want to upload their personal information for the whole world to see!

Thanks for the answers guys :D I think I'll go down to the Passport Office myself tomorrow, just to make sure.

My auntie has applied through passport express, there were no issues and she had her new irish passport in 2 weeks. I am sure there will be no issues. :D

Don't rely on the Post Office staff for advice on filling out the form or advice on whether or not your photos are OK. They are not trained checkers, and do not work for the Passport Office, so they don't know what to look for.

yes, there is a special white plastic envelope that they use (swiftpost) which the Post Office clerk will put your application into.

Went to the Passport Office in Dublin yesterday.

Was told that my old passport will be ok, along with my learner's permit and college ID and to just include a note stating why I'm enclosing an old passport :)

Brilliant, they also ask for a long birth cert, but where i am from we wouldnt have that. So o presume that the one I currently hold should suffice.
