Hello moderators and everybody
I posted my Set LR as variation of FLR FP day before yesterday via special delivery and yesterday I received biometric invitation for the existing application. It asks to record biometric within 15 days and the letter is dated 4 september. Do I need to go for biometric soon or just wait for acknowledgement letter of Set LR?
Pls give me your opinion.thanks

A small silly question but useful. That what are the best envelopes/bags for sending and receiving back (prepaid) from HO from following list:
Plastic mailing bags
Paper envelope
Paper bubble envelope
Hello Coolmind ,
Its really doesn't make any difference although plastic bags and paper bubble envelope are most reliable ...post office guys will help you out for pre paid track able special delivery
But don't forget take the snap of track able reference number from the prepaid envelope or post office reciept will have that reference number printed on it

so the only reason you are sending pre paid special delivery envelope so you can easily track your document through their website by keep checking on their web site after three months for your own piece of mind otherwise HO will send you on second class registered post where i think you can not track them
Btw you never share your time line with us

or you still collecting information on every bit and pieces of useful question
Best of luck
Regards
S.AKaram
Thanks for reply. Actually to me ukba is a child ghost who make us frightful by their childish silly acts sometime, that's why these silly questions are essential to ask

. Are paper bubble bags are fine and strong as they will stay at ukba in folded position for sometime for the return of documents.
hi cool mind
for some reason i cant PM you so here it is
As per my opinion you can't leave the address field blank as its a special delivery envelop you have to write the address you can do one thing put your existing address on it and when you move change your address in UKBA and get royal mail redirection service on your old address
hope this helps

Hello everyone,
I still haven't got any thing back yet. However, I've sent a letter informing them of my situation( that I needed the visa before I start university). I was wondering if you can still get a refusal after the biometric ( which I did around 2 weeks ago)
I would be very grateful if someone can reply to me.
Thanks

Hi joanie,
I would suggest to go and record the biometric details, its not a lot of money, but if you didn't record they might send your initial application back to you, and that will be a problem. You don't want the process on the FLR(FP) stop till you get an acknowledgement that they have accepted your request to vary your application from FLR(FP) to SET(LR). Once your receive a letter acknowledging that, than every thing is hunky dory. And every thing will be in order than.
All the best .
Kind regards

Thanks a lot for your brilliant and thoughtful input. Shahkakaram brother, yeh, I like to prepare and plan things well in advance so there isn't any chance of any surprise but you are right, UKBA can surprise anyone.
Shahjee, the reason for not applying under tier 1 is the fact that I had to show 50-55k income for my tier 1 visas, which I was able to show at that time but now the job is different and I have been made redundant and I can't fulfil the income threshold. I was advised that the best bet then is to apply under 10 year rule. I am under the impression that if I go for Tier 1 route for ILR then I still have to show the same income threshold. Let me know if this is correct or incorrect because I don't have to then I can do through this route as I can easily show the income around 30K.
Hope it makes sense
Hi usman.tariq,
You are right regards to the income, if you want to apply through Tier1, 5 years route you have to provide evidence that you are still earning that 50-55k.
I was in the exact same situation earlier this year, and if I would have taken the tier1 route than i need to provide evidence for 65k and I decided to go the LR route, and by the Grace of Allah, got every thing sorted in time.
I hope the same for you. All the best.
kind regards
Shahjee

HO turnaround period is between 16-20weeks based on current trend. So, expect their response by the end of January to first week of Feb next year.
Good luck.

To all the SEPTEMBER applicants just for information last year HO took on average 5 months for SEPTEMBER Applications. September is the busiest month of the year. I hope it will get better this year round.

Thanks for the heads up. You are right September is always a busy season for applications. My observation is also based on the assessment of last year application during this time. As we both have applied on the 10 Sept and as per googledrive record last year 7 applications had raised on the same date and they all got responses between last week of Jan till mid of Feb 2013. But as always all the applications are different from each others in terms of their circumstances so we can only estimate based on the previous record.
Thanks

Dear Guru's
I have been a silent reader but now we need help.
My husband applied in May 2014 and we are waiting for the decision. However we received the SAR (which was requested in January) today and there are a few worrying comments.
Time line of concern is as follows.
Arrived in UK April 2004 with a visa valid till 31 May 2006.
Application for extension was received by UKBA on the 30th May 2006.
Application was refused 10th January 2007, with a right of appeal.
He did not appeal, but made a new application on the 29th of January 2007. This was application was granted in July 2007.
Now according to the SAR, he was an over stayer from 1st July 2006 to the 29th of January when the new application was raised.
There is no mention of 3c, that is the time when the application was with them.
Can someone please advise. Sanjee your help will be appreciated.

Hi AKU,
What is important is your initial letter of refusal, does it said any where that you can make a fresh application with in 28 days or not ?? If it does than you are alright, as your husband applied a fresh application in 19 days.
Kind regards
