Certificate of British Citizenshp-LOST

Hello

I had recently applied for the British Passport and had sent my original Certificate of British Citizenshp along with my Indian Passport when I made the application through Post Office.

They sent me back the Indian Passport and I got the British Passport by Post. But I never got the Certificate of British Citizenship. And they claim that it was sent together with the Indian Passport.

can members of this forum please share their experience. Did you receive the Certificate of British Ciizenship in a separate post or in the same post along wth your Old passports?

It should arrive in the same package as your foreign passport. If they have lost, they can arrange a replacement at their cost.

Passport office lost both my foreign passport and certificate and I kicked up a massive fuss, they assured me they would get me a replacement certificate and cover the cost of replacing my foreign passport.

6 weeks or so after I received my British passport, my foreign one and certificate mysteriously appeared in my post and a week after that I receive a letter from passport office apologising.

When I called them up today, they told me that they had sent the certificate in the same post as my old Indian Passport. I did receive the Old Passport but pretty sure not the certificate. But not 100% sure as there is a tiny chance that I may have discarded the Postage cover without checking all its contents.

One factor why I think I dint receive the cetificate is that the cover in which I received the old passport was a small cover not big enough to fit the A4 sized certificate (unless they folded the original certificate).

Was your certificate folded up when you received it?

Yes, certificates are normally returned folded in a C5 envelope.
