international student wants to change university

Post by tom_hungston » Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:09 pm

Hi everyone,

One of my cousin has applied to study at university of Southampton and his course started from 1st october 2007, now due to circumstances he dont want to start his masters as he has missed out 3 weeks of initial lectures. and he thinks that he won't be able to get good grades doing his masters this years.

Is it possible that he can take a drop and start his course from next year...? and study batchelor till then...? he has paid 25% fees to university (appx £2500) for his masters. and he spoke to university that he dont want to continue this year. he want to do other course (ACCA) instead and once its complete he will do his masters. They agreed that he can start his masters from next year so its not a problem. but they said immigration law might cause his problem as he is doing course in the college.

would this cause any problem to him....?

He would need to tell the Home Office if he's changing courses, and get their approval.
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
