I tend to think post-biometrics application will take much much longer.
Because all process will only begin after applicants have done their finger prints.

Totally agreed. IMHO, biometrics should rather speed up the process as it confirms the identity of the applicant, most likely all of April applicants would have submitted their Biometrics by now, so there shouldn't be any extra delay for us compare to pre-biometrics April applicants.

I agree that logically speaking what you say should be correct. By definition most April applicants have either submitted biometrics or have missed the deadline to do so it shouldn't cause a delay.

But the Home Office doesn't work in logical ways. For example, there may be other technical differences in procedure that we don't know about that cause our applications to take longer (e.g. it's possible that a different team does the biometric checking which adds an extra layer to the process).

Also, it looks as though they have decided to do all pre-biometric applications before even starting on the biometric ones. So it could mean a longer wait for us as they wait until literally all March/early April applications are done before starting on us.

And remember that because this is a new system, there will be teething problems which cause extra technical delays. I was already sent a letter saying that I had "failed" to submit biometrics even though I had done so a month before (the HO later confirmed that they had been submitted).

I'm not being pessimistic or anything like that. Just facing reality. The only time we get a true indication is when a BRP applicant has received approval. So sit tight and take a chill pill.

Finally the wait is over, received my approval letter yesterday dated 17/07/2015.

Although I personally feel it took longer than it should have considering it was a straight forward case, I am still glad UKVI sent the approval letter way before the 6-month deadline that they are expected to abide by except for complications in any case that they work on.

Have booked-in for the ceremony with the council on 5th August, 2015.

Wish each one of you who are still waiting good luck, just a matter of time before you will have that brown envelope in your hands which will say, "I am pleased to tell you that this application for British citizenship has been approved..." Tathastu (meaning, "So be it") !!

can you advise if the letter came by Royal mail and if so, was it a tracked/signed-for delivery?

I applied through NCS and UKBA received the application on 2nd April 2014, money deducted on 21st April.

The letter came via Royal Mail however was not signed-for delivery, it was through 2nd Class post.

Hope you will soon have the postman knocking on your door with the Brown Letter containing your Approval. Wish you good luck.

We have only just now started to see approvals for the first week of April. Try to be patient. In the next few weeks they will probably start working through mid-late April applications.

Back on 16 July we had the first one recieved by HO 1 April. Since then there have been a couple more - all recieved by HO on 1/2 April. At the moment (after almost 3 months of no progress at all) we're getting progress at a rate of about a day per week. So if you applied at the end of April, based on this vigorous rate of work, expect to get your approval in February 2016...

Actually, I reckon that when things start moving for post-April 6th applicants they will start flowing more quickly. It literally can't keep going at the current pace forever or noone would ever get a response. My money is on when people start coming back from holidays in September. Maybe a few lucky ones before that.
