British citizenship referees

Post by Ben170292 » Sun Sep 06, 2015 3:18 pm

Hi,
I am currently in the process of applying for British citizenship through my unmarried father.
I am trying to think of referees I can use, do you think these are acceptable?

For professional I will either use my doctor or someone from my local post office (I have known her since before she worked there) they are both Australian citizens.

For the UK citizen can I use my Aunty's husband (ex but not officially) he has lived in Australia since he was 12 but is only a British citizenship.

Thanks for any advice, I did try to search this but I could only find information about the professional referee.

The professional sounds acceptable as long as they meet the time requirement, are not a relative & don't have an unexpired criminal record (or work for HO).

The second one (uncle) would not be accepted as a referee should not be a relative.

Thanks, that's what I thought but wanted to check, back to thinking again. It seems to be all the UK citizens I know are family or under 25, is there any other option if I'm unable to think of one?

See section 6.3.7.7 of the guidance - it may help you out:
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 6_v5_0.pdf
a Commonwealth citizen or citizen of the country in which he or she is residing may complete and sign the form ...

So if I'm reading correctly I can use 2 professionals or an Australian citizen friend and professional?
