Hi,

I will be qualifying for the ILR in March 2016 and have found the forums immensely helpful so thank you to all who have contributed.

I have a few queries as I have had mixed responses from past applicants that I know.

1) Life in UK test - when should I take it, how long does it usually take to book a test date?

2) How long before can I book an appointment for Feb/March 2016? Can I pick a date suitable to me in advance?

3) My Indian passport expires in August 2016, is that a problem? Do I need to get it renewed before the application.

1. You can take it at any time but at least 7 days before your ILR appointment. Availability will depend on where you are located in the UK and how many test centres are in your area.

2. Slots are released 42 days/6 weeks in advance. So choose a date and count backwards to see when you can start looking. Appointments are not such an issue anymore since third parties are unable to block book them and sell them on.

3. No problem. There is no requirement to have a passport valid for X months. It needs to be valid at the time of application.

Hi,

Thanks for all the helpful posts here. My query is regarding completing of the ILR form regarding the English Language. I have a UK Masters degree which gets me a 10 on the PBS calculator (Thanks for the helpful post!)

However, now I do not know what to tick/check on the actual application form. The questions are -

"An academic qualification deemed by UK NARIC to meet the"
recognised standard of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or"
"PhD in the United Kingdom and:"
"˗ UK NARIC has confirmed that the qualification was"
"taught or researched in English; or"
"˗ the qualification was taught or researched in the UK"
"or a majority English speaking country"

I am also attaching the photo of the section to help understand my query.

Do I need to tick all or which two ?
