deported at registry office is this true

Post by chibage » Mon Dec 10, 2007 4:46 pm

Please can some one tell me if it is true that the home office is issuing coas to overstayers to marry then they wait for you at the registry office and get you straight after your marriage thus deporting you. Please is this true?? I am so scared as my wedding is in a few weeks and this has caused me agony. Anyone please help.

I haven't heard it, but I suppose it's possible that they would send enforcement officers to registrars offices.

They can't remove you straight away, you have 24 hours in which to appeal if you wish.

difference between ILE and ILR??

Post by vinny » Tue Dec 11, 2007 1:40 am

ILR (indefinite leave to remain) may be granted from within the UK by the BIA.
ILE (indefinite leave to enter) may be granted from outside the UK by British posts or (previously) by immigration officers at UK ports of entry.

In practice, there is no difference between an ILR and ILE, apart from who granted it. Once in the UK, an ILE acts as an ILR. When outside the UK, an ILR acts as an ILE, subject to the Returning Residents provisions.
