Hello everyone

New member here, not sure if this has been discussed in the past.

So basically I'm planning to apply for ILR this September on 10 year long residence basis.

The problem I have is that for the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 I do not have the exit dates when I went back home for uni summer holidays (one occasion for each year) because I went through the automated scanning machine at the airport therefore no stamps in my passport. Currently I'm trying to get these dates from my original country's government but so far no success yet.

Apparently the UK home office only keeps records going back 5 years so they do not have these records that are missing- which makes me think, how are they going to do the cross checking if they don't have this information themselves?

Anyway, should I risk it and apply stating approximate dates for those 3 exit dates and if so, should I bother using the same day super priority service or is it likely that the application is going to take longer due to the unclear exit dates? And will they want to see evidence for those approximate dates and if so, what sort of evidence?

Just to make things more difficult, I have no records of my flight itinerary for those occasions and I was a student then, so no evidence like employment for example.

Hi all

I’m planning to apply for ilr on 10 year basis this month.

My issue is that when I went to dublin in 2014 i had a stamp going into dublin but coming back into the uk there was no stamp.

I travelled with ferry and I’ve lost the ferry booking tickets on my email.

I’ve got a record of my immigration history for the past 5 years from home office and these dates when I went to dublin did not appear on it.

Should I declare these dates on my application although they’re not on home office record (but i have stamps in my passport) and present bank statements as evidence that I returned back to the uk? Is this acceptable?

Thanks for your reply. How would the case worker be satisfied that I’ve actually returned to the UK if there’s no evidence of it on my passport plus I’ve lost my ferry tickets booking?

Just wanted to let u know that my ILR finally came through after 6 months and 2 weeks of waiting! I used regular service but did not expect it to take that long.

So thank you for your help on this forum.

One question I have is that on the card it states ‘valid until’ date.

What does this mean? Does it mean if I don’t apply for citizenship then every 4 years I have to renew the ILR? If so, how does one go about doing that?

ILR is indefinnite provided you reside in the UK (it lapses automatically on any absence fo more than two years from the UK).

Because of EU regulations on data protection and encrytion technology, all ILR BRPs have an expiry date of 31/12/2024. You will likely have to apply for a new BRP just before that timeframe.

Presumably the 'valid until' date is stated as 31 December 2024. If you don't apply for citizenship, you simply renew the BRP card, same as you renew passports and drivers licences. It is the card that expires not the ILR status (unless you leave the UK for 2 or more years). A new card after 2024 will be valid for 10 years. The date of 31 December 2024 is the date the EU has stated that ALL biometric documents (British passports and BRP cards) must be updated with new enhanced security features.
