Set M Financial requirements employment and self employment question

Post by mubicool2012 » Sun Nov 03, 2019 8:29 pm

Hello there I have a question in regards with the ILR application Set M, I know it's been asked many times on the forum but looks like due to my circumstances I wouldn't be able to meet if anyone could help.

My wife will be completing her 5 years on flr m in December, I have been in employment last year and finished my employment in July 2018 and I started self employment after that. From employment I accumulated my earnings as £ 8953 and from self employment I have earned around £ 11000 in the last year ending April 2019 but I am not in the same employment anymore and I am on self employment since July last year till date,I have read on the forum and done research I recently found out that for the financial requirements to meet I should be in the same circumstances at the time of application.

"you can combine employment and self-employment to meet the financial requirement only if they are same source of income at the date of application"

My question is I might not meet the financial requirement because I have left that job, but if I join back now the same job and continue with self employment as well will it make any better in making application.

Can someone help me answering this question.

Appreciate your help.

Correct.

If you take up employment, you will be in salaried employment with your current employer for less than 6 months so you will be evaluated under Category B. So you must then demonstrate that in the last 12 months you made at least £18,600. Given you cannot demonstrate that as you need self employment to include money made in the last 12 months and you cannot do that without self assessment for April 2019-20. That means you will not be able to satisfy the requirements as it stands. Easier to get a job and maintain it for 6 months or wait till April 2020 and apply with mixture of salaried employment and self employment as per category B.

Thanks very much for sharing the information, but my problem is my wife visa expiring in 9 Jan 2020 I haven't got enough time to wait for 6 months.

Any other suggestions you recommend.

Thanks again

Do you have savings ? Does your wife work too ? Otherwise she will not meet the financial requirements
