Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum, hope everyone is doing well.
I am facing dilemma with moving back to the UK as I am not sure what approach should I consider.
My husband and I lived in the UK from 2001 until 2009. It started from student visa (obtained doctorate) and then worked for a few years with finally getting an ILR. Whereas I worked for a few years on dependent visa, obtained my master's degree and eventually got an ILR as well. My husband predominantly worked in aerospace area mainly defence catering to big names in the similar field. He had also been given security clearance during work visa years.
Because of family issues we moved back to India. We went through some complex situations over the years and hence failed to return to the UK.
Now after ten years we are thinking of going back however since our ILR is no longer active we are not sure what route to take. My husband and I can arrange references from previous employer/s as well as from academia.
I was wondering if there is a way we can apply to reactivate the ILR or else apply for immigration. Going through work visa is more tedious and time-consuming.
I would highly appreciate inputs from experts as to what can be done. Many thanks for reading my lengthy request post.
Kind regards
Geena

Unfortunately, there are not many options unless you have some strong connections with UK still - family, property, etc.

Okay.
So if there is an employment offer in place, would that help?
Would appreciate inputs if any other.
Thanks

Buy a house if you can and choose returning resident visa.

Unlikely - but if you have an employment offer, you could go for Tier 2.

Again, unlikely this will help. The criteria for a returning visa is evidence of having maintained a strong connection - buying a house now does not provide that.
Having said that, there is no harm in applying for a returning visa with explanations why you did not apply before. The worst thing is that they would say no.

Thanks

Yes. A refusal in one category doesn’t necessarily imply a refusal in another category, unless the
refusal was subject to
320(7A), where further refusals may be under 320(
7B).

Alright. Last but not the least, question.
We do not have the kind of strong connection required in terms of family, house or so. However if were to show a reasonable amount of funds that we could bring in Then would that help?
I would highly appreciate input on this.
Thanks a lot.
