Questions about letter from employer

Post by ideotea » Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:54 pm

Hi All, I would appreciate if you could help me with the question below:

1. Is it OK for the company to issue me a single letter containg the detail about my job title, soc code, salary and required for the foreseeable future and absence from the UK instead of two separated letter?

2. My employment started on Mon 7 October (as stated in the COS). The company sent me for an orientation training abroad in which I had to fly out of the UK on Sun 6th Oct in order to start the training on the 7th. The company will include in the letter for my absence (for business) from the UK from 6th - xxth Oct. Will this be a problem? Does this look like I start working for the company one day earlier than the start date in the COS? (I chose to fly out on Sunday to avoid jetlag and had a bit of time myself to see the city)

Thank you.

That's fine. One letter could be used as long as all the required information is captured i.e absence, salary confirmation and foreseeable future need.

2. My employment started on Mon 7 October (as stated in the COS). This should not be a problem. They should just state that you resumed at XXX location for an orientation training from x date to y date and back in the UK office on z date to continue your work. As long as the training dates are within the absence period, you should be fine. The caseworkers are humans and would know that you might have to travel a day or two before/after the training.

Thank you.

@Djsuccess Thank you so much for answer my questions.

I do have another question though. Apart from the absence letters from the companies, do I have to write another letter myself listing all the absences I have made outside the UK for my past 5 years? The reason I ask is that I found other people mentioned about this while we have input this in the SET O form as well.

Thanks.

Your employer can confirm all your absences include the personal ones. They will mark them as "business" for the work-related absences and "Annual paid leave" for the personal ones, which is what they are. However, if your employers are not willing to confirm you annual leave, then you can write a cover letter yourself, stating the purpose of the personal absences (again as Annual Paid Leave) and where available, provide evidence (E.g travel ticket, exit and entry stamps in your passport etc).

Thank you very much. My employers have included all my absence in their letter as well as my personal ones.
