ILR application - Tier 2 General - When did you first enter UK

Hi, I have a question regarding my first entry date asked in the ILR application. I entered the UK first in 2010 as a student and received my tier 2 general visa in 2014. I want my application to be considered from 2014 as I have been with the same employer since then and it is convenient for me to produce all the necessary supporting documentation. The guidance text to answer this question states that "This is the date you entered the UK when the period of stay you are basing this application on started.". To my understanding, it means that I should be entering the date in 2014 because I want my "period of stay" for this application to be based on 2014 onwards. Can someone please advise if entering 2014 as an entry date is ok or do I have to enter the date from 2010?

Yes, that's right. You need to provide the date based on your Tier 2 visa.
