ILR Eligibility in this scenario.

My friend is in Tier 2 general from nov 2014 till date

In Mar 2017, he was terminated from the job but the sponsor did not inform home office. He found a new sponsor only by Sep 2017 and between this time he stayed within UK as he had valid visa.
He stayed in UK for 6 months with no job and no pay.

Can he apply for ILR now . Will that 6 months period be an issue?

It is fine as the 60 day rule was removed in 2018

Thanks zimba. He did not do any work. He does not have payslips for that period. Hope that's fine
