Entry Clearance from Nigeria

I have received my HSMP/Tier1 (General) approval letter recently which was applied from Nigeria.

I want to apply for EC for Myself, My Wife and Child. Kindly advice on all Supporting documents required for visa at UK Embassy in Nigeria. Would also appreciate samples of cover letter plus other relevant documents. My email addy is elynas123@yahoo.com

Congrats on your approval.

You MUST include all the documents you submitted to Home Office for your approval. Also include your marriage cert, children birth cert showing you & wife as parents of the children. Current 6 months Bank Statement and evidence to show that you have a place to stay in the Uk. Bcos its u and ur family, it is better u get someone who has about 2 or 3 bedrooms flat in the Uk to write you a letter that he will accomodate you until you find a job or better still book an hotel and pay for it. Make sure that the hotel gives you a receipt or invoice or any proof that you have booked it for 2 weeks. Write a simple cover letter stating all these and your plans to get a job in the Uk and want to make the Uk your home with your family.State it in the cover letter that you are booking the 2 wks hotel so that when u finally arrive Uk, you will rent an accomodation that will be convenient for you and your family. I think this should suffice. I wish you well.

In addition to the compehensive list given by 1971, take note u have to show enough minimum balance in ur account for at least 3 months. This should be enough to maintain u and ur dependants. In your case, it is 2800GBP+1600GBP+1600GBP. The account statement will be submitted with ur applications. Make sure the statement is signed and sealed by ur bank. All the best.

It appears that he already has an HSMP approval letter, in which case he simply needs to obtain entry clearance via the provisional Tier 1 process in place for HSMP holders.

Ensure you have the following in your application package:

1. A signed printout of the online application form Appendix 1 (as you already have the HSMP letter, you will only have to complete the maintenance part of this appendix)
2. Original HSMP letter
3. Evidence to show you meet the maintenance requirements.

It is not, therefore, necessary to resubmit all the material that you provided in your HSMP application. In addition, note that, unless the rules are different for Nigerian applicants, you will need to show that you have held the necessary maintenance funds for three (not six) months prior to applying.

For your dependents, there will be additional documents that will need to be provided. See your local British High Commission (or their website) for the details of these. They will also be able to advise you on what they expect in terms of accomodation in the UK.

I also received HSMP approval a couple of months ago under the old rules..and will be applying for EC soon......Let me know how you get on with your EC application and if you end up submitting all your old documents used for the initial application or just the forms and 3 months maintenance requirements.

Ideally it shouldn't be, but it is difficult to know for sure because not all local BHCs / VACs publish the exact requirements on their websites (unlike as BHC in NZ does).

And UKBA is well-known for applying different rules for different sections of people!
