Tier 2 to ILR - can't find my first employment record in HMRC account

Post by Shah1698 » Wed Oct 07, 2020 1:11 pm

Hi experts,

I have been working in the UK since 1st Oct 2015 on Tier 2 general.

I switched employer in June 2017 and got new Tier 2 visa for another 4 years (I had no problem in switching)

I am now eligible to apply for ILR. However, I can't find my first employer tax record in my HMRC account. I called HMRC they said they don't have a record (for 1.8 years with first sponsor). I have P45, one P60 and few payslips from the previous sponsor. I got paid on time while I was working with them

I cannot contact my previous emplpyer since they are not trading now. Could you please advice if this affect y ILR application? What should I do?

No sure how and why I can view my previous 10+ years of tax record by using the same hmrc gateway account.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

I have bank statements that show my salary credits by that employer for that period. I have P60s and P45 and more than 7 months payslips.

It is only that HMRC record is missing in my gateway account. Not sure if UKVI could check in the backend or other source?

Hi guys, an update.

I sorted out this issue with HMRC. I thought it may help those in similar situation.

My first employer ran my payroll with temporary NI number so that record was not linked with my actual NI number so I couldn’t see the record in my online account.

After sending the proofs, HMRC merged data and got the record is now available.

I can apply for ILR now.

One question about this though, after merging you records did you request any special letter to HMRC or did you just print the information available on the HMRC portal/app?
