British registration of UK born child of one parent ILR

Post by Cat8118 » Fri Oct 23, 2020 12:22 pm

Hi all,

This is my first post on the forum, reading through this particular thread has been so helpful, it is very similar to my current situation, can't thank you enough for this forum and this thread in particular.

I have been on the Tier 2G, just got ILR decision on 18/10, still awaiting my BRP through. My husband got his ILR decision on 14/10, and received his BRP as well.

We didn't apply my son's (8 years old) ILR, and he is still on Tier 2G dependent visa. I started to fill his citizenship application form online with the help of this thread, had the following clarifications, would really appreciate if you could confirm if I am going in the right direction:

1) 'Start'
Who does this email belong to?
I have entered 'Someone else', as the other options are 'Applicant' and 'An immigration adviser based in the UK'
The suggestions in this thread were that I change it to 'Applicant' instead, as my son is 8 years, I hope it wouldn't cause any confusion?

2) 'Application'
Do you have a valid national identity card?
Is this any identity card for our home country other than the passport?

3) Biometric residence permit details
I don't have ILR BRP for my son, was just going to provide the Tier 2G dependent, does that work?

4) 'Declaration'
I confirm that:
a) I am the applicant?
Or
b) I am the representative of the applicant and have been authorised to act on their behalf...?
Again linked with point 1, shall I chose b?
Is that correct?

Look forward to hearing from you all.

As this post was split in its own topic, just want to make sure the “topic name” has not been taken from the pre-split thread.

Your post itself does not make it clear if your son was born in UK or not?

Many thanks for the reply @CULLINAN - I noticed that the post has been split, and have been looking to update the subject, without much luck, I have been able to update it now while posting a reply.

To confirm, my son was born in the UK, both I and my husband have received ILR decisions. I am still awaiting the BRP but my husband has received his.

1) Choose “applicant” unless if you choose “someone else”, the form lets you add the relationship.

2) Yes. Any home country’s National ID (if any).

3) Correct.

4) Applicant. Legal representative is like a solicitor etc.

PS HO knows parent(s) are applying on behalf of the child.

You may refer to the thread created by @Cristina88 as it has lots of information but if you have any follow up questions please post in your own thread here. Thanks.

Dear Experts,

With the help of the guidance on this forum, I have now completed the online application form for my son.
After the payment page, it asked me to download the following:
1) Referee declaration form
2) Parent consent form

After that there is a link to book biometric appointment, I registered at the UKVCAS page where it asked me to look for nearest service point. The issue I have are:

a) There are no appointments available in 3-4 service points I looked at. Do I need to keep checking on a daily
basis?
b) Moreover I haven't got an option to upload any of the documents yet, would that option only come when I book my appointment?
c) I had used IDV for my ILR, is that not an option in this case?

Any steer on the above would help. Many thanks in advance.
