Travel with pending IRL application

Hi there, hope you are keeping well!
I am currently waiting for the result of my IRL application (via 10-year route). I still have an eligible UK VISA (Tier) which is valid for more than a year. Can I travel outside of the UK while I wait for the permanent residence application result? I don't want to be here alone for Christmas and I am hoping to travel in the next few weeks if possible. I have done some research and it seems travel with a pending application is advised against, on the basis of paragraph 34K in the Immigration rules; I was wondering if any immigration legal experts could help me answer this question.
