Post by maidy » Sun Sep 28, 2008 12:47 am

Does anybody guide about getting a job in field of Accountancy with a qualification of B.Com + MBA Finance and accounting. Its been three months I can into U.K I have applied 100s of jobs but couldn't find one. The same answer got from everywhere "Do u have experience of working in U.K? (NO) sorry we can’t offer u a job if u doesn’t have experience of working in U.K.
I just came in U.K on hsmp i have experience of working in my home country.... its ridiculous....

Can anyone advice about this matter....

The field that you are seeking a job in requires above par communication skills as opposed to getting a technical job.

So try to look and talk like a British first....your experience and qualifications come second!

I will suggest you look for a voluntary job first. This will give you the opportunity of having UK experience.

There are organisations out there that will quickly grab you if they knew you will only be working for them on voluntary basis. Though, they usually support in the form of reimbursement of transportation cost and feeding cost.

You may do this for one or two months and during the time, update your CV and try applying for accounting positions that suit your skills and experience. I can assure you that this will work.

I did it and it worked for me.

I dont have list of organisations that offer voluntary jobs. I had to call jobcentre to enquire about organisations that needed voluntary worker in the area of finance and three days later, I got a call from one of them.

Though, I told my employer that my intention was just to gain experience and they did their best in helping me. A month later, they offered me a fixed contract job for two months. And before the expiration of that period, I got different calls from companies.

I am working in one now.
