ILR inquiry- Cohabitation documents, Consent form, etc

Post by ILR21-BB » Sun Oct 24, 2021 2:22 pm

Dear helpful Experts,

I am in the process of application for ILR for both myself and my wife (as dependant) together on the 5-year Tier 2 (General) route. We were married before arriving to the UK and have been living together since then in the UK over the past 5 years.
I have got some questions and doubts as listed below which I would be really grateful if you could kindly help me clarify them or provide the related information please.

1- Regarding the evidence of cohabitation, I am wondering what is meant by ‘maximum of two years’ exactly? Does it mean the documents are needed for the last two years before our application, or the first two years since our last Tier2 visa was granted? (my last T2 was issued and granted in Dec 2017 and I started my last (current) employment in Feb 2018)

2- In line with the 1st question, how many documents we need in order to cover the whole period (if what is meant by period is the ‘two years’)? In other words, how often they should be dated?

3- Again, I am wondering if the following documents are acceptable for cohabitation documents? letting contract (along with a letter from the letting agency), energy bills, water bills, Medical centre letters, driving licence (as there is both issue date and address on the license), monthly bank statements (?)

4- Regarding the consent, there are two questions to be answered YES/NO as follows. I am not sure if both should be YES. We only have joint accounts for our utility bills such as electricity and water.
- Is the account with a bank or utility company for which you have supplied information and supporting documentation held jointly by you and other people? [YES/NO???] I think this should be 'YES', as we have joint accounts for some of our utility bills!
- Does the account with the bank or utility company for which you have supplied information and supporting documentation relate to another person who is to provide you financial support? [YES/NO???] I guess this should be 'NO' as nobody provides me financial support but as we are applying at the same time, the ambiguous point is that my wife is under my financial support !

5- In line with the last question, again I am hesitated if we both should sign both Parts 1 and 2 of the consent form for the joint utility accounts? i.e. first, I sign part 1, my wife part 2; Then again my wife signs Part 1 and me part 2 (?) I guess Part 3 is not needed unless I need to sign it for my wife who is provided with my financial support?

6- Marriage certificate has not been listed in our application documents at the end of our application. Could you give a kind advice please why this has not been requested, or if you recommend us to upload the marriage certificate as well, just in case?

Many thanks in advance, and sorry for the long text.

ILR - past UK NARIC approval for English proof

Post by ILR21-BB » Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:05 pm

Dear moderator,
I am going to apply for ILR on the 5-year Tier 2 (General) route. Regarding the English evidence, I am going to provide my degree which has been already approved by UK NARIC on my first entry in 2016.
I am wondering if it would be OK to use the same UK NARIC approval letter OR I need to apply again and obtain a new evidence from Ecctis (formerly UK NARIC) ?

Many thanks in advance

1. The last two years
2. The rules do not say how often. I'd say one or two for each quarter
3. ANY document can be used. There is no specific requirement
4. YES and NO
5. You sign part 1 and she signs part 2. Ignore part 3
6. It is not required

NARIC approval used before is enough

Many thanks Zimba indeed! Your answers are incredibly helpful and greatly appreciated !

Just as another query, I have several old passports and I am wondering if I need to submit them all OR only the latest old passport which has been used to enter the UK over the past 5 years counted for this ILR application? Thank you again!

Ones covering immigration history which the ILR qualifying period will be based on will suffice.

Thank you ! Your help is greatly appreciated!
As a separete query, I have got an item in the list of mandatory documents as 'Evidence of Mr XXXX's immigration status in the UK'.
I am wondering what document needs to be provided to cover this item? I only can think of my current Tier2 BRP card but Current Biometric Residence Permit has been also mentioned separately in the documents list.
Once again, many thanks for all your kind help !
