English proficiency proof for 19 yrs old dependent

Post by garrick » Thu Jan 05, 2023 4:49 pm

Hi all, My son ( 19 yrs old) will be eligible for ILR along with my wife in Sept 2023. My wife is on skilled visa and my son has dependent visa on her. My son has passed out GCSE and A level from UK and currently in London university ( 1st year). I would like to know if he will need to do anything to prove his English proficiency for his ILR application?

Gcse and A level is not sufficient.

He needs to do an approved B1 English test from an approved test provider.

He also need the life in the uk test.

Thanks for your quick reply. This raises another question. What happens in cases of younger dependent applicant e.g. 10-12 yrs old? How do they prove their English?

Applicants under 18 do NOT have to prove English or life in the uk test.

The tests are ONLY for adults as the ukvi website clearly states.
