Impact on ILR due to change in SOC Code

Post by pixyish » Wed Mar 29, 2023 12:37 pm

Hello,

I had a 3 year General Tier 2 visa which was transferred under Skilled Worker visa last year upon renewal, as by then the General Tier 2 visa was abolished in favour of current point based system visa.

I am now changing job with another employer which is resulting in a change to my SOC code - from 2133 - IT Specialist Managers to 1132 - Marketing and sales directors.

I am less than 1 year away from ILR and I would like to ensure that this change in SOC code does not have any impact on getting the ILR. As if it does, I would rather stay in my current job till I get my ILR.

Can I please request guidance to help understand if this SOC code change will impact my ILR or can I switch jobs without issues. I would prefer as close to 100% assurance as I can get. :D

Thank you in advance.

ILR eligibility has nothing to do with your SOC changes. When you change employers, you are required to apply for a new skilled worker visa using the new SOC. ILR is unaffected
