ILR (Refugee Settlement) - Application Questions

Post by AhmedSiala » Thu Apr 27, 2023 7:25 pm

Hello all

I currently hold refugee status which will expire on the 25th of May 2023 - I received the refugee status 5 years ago. I am now eligible to apply for Indefinite leave to remain.
I am filling out the application on my own and I am seeking some help with the questions below please.

Q1 - During refugee status, I have left the UK for holidays for a total of 110 days in the past 5 years.
The guidelines highlight that the ILR (refugee settlement) applicant should have lived in the UK for the 5 continuous years.
What are the maximum days allowed outside the UK to be eligible for ILR? Is there any minimum requirements? Do I have to wait?

Q2 - During the application I was asked if I was ever issued a fixed penalty notice.
I was issued a fixed penalty notice for littering back in 2017 which I have paid.
Does this incident affect my application?

Thanks
Ahmed

1. You simply need to have held continuously 5 years of refugee status. There is no absence limit for the refugees
2. No. FPNs have no effect on ILR unless there is a pattern of repeated offence
