Spain schengen visa documentation for house wife/unemployed

Post by adi27 » Mon Mar 04, 2024 5:18 pm

Hello,

I possess a British passport, while my wife and child hold Indian passports. We have secured a premium appointment for a Schengen visa on March 18th, 2024, and have already purchased non-refundable flight tickets, which are amendable at no extra cost. My query pertains to the sponsorship of our trip, particularly as my wife is a homemaker with no personal income. Would it suffice if I provide a letter affirming full financial sponsorship from my own resources? And most importantly, does it need to be notarised? We maintain a joint bank account, the statements of which can serve as evidence of our financial capability. Additionally, as an independent contractor serving a client, do I require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from my client? What are the typical processing times for this visa? Our departure is scheduled for April 11th, 2024, and I'm concerned about whether this timeline allows adequate processing time for the visa.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Adi

A letter stating you'll cover all expenses should be enough for your wife's sponsorship, alongside joint bank account statements for financial proof. Notarization isn't typically required, but check with the Spanish consulate to be sure.
Regarding the NOC, since you're an independent contractor, it's a good idea if your travel affects work commitments, but not mandatory. Your timeline is tight but manageable, as Schengen visas usually process within 15 days, sometimes up to 45 in rare cases.
