Help with ILR documentation

Post by akkhan920000 » Fri Sep 05, 2025 2:09 pm

Hi all,

I have two separate questions and I've been through multiple threads to see if someone had a similar question answered but couldn't find anything. My apologies if this has been answered before though.

Q1) I have been in the UK on multiple skilled worker visas (originally tier 2) since January 2020. During this time I have changed employers/sponsors 4 times (twice due to redundancy).

My new employer that I began working for on the 1st of September 2025 has given me the employer letter for ILR, however seeing as I've only been there for a week, I don't have a payslip. Am I okay to apply asap for ILR or should I wait until my first payslip? Secondly, I've seen multiple answers saying letters from former employers are not needed, but I have had small periods of absence outside the UK whilst employed with those former employers. Is there anything I need to evidence for that?

Q2) My son is currently on a dependent visa on my wife's former skilled worker permit (she now has ILR) and his visa is due to expire on the 30th of September. Can I apply for his ILR together with mine seeing as he's not a dependent on my visa but my wife's?

I thank you in advance for reading through.

1. You need at least one payslip form your new employer. You do not need letters from previous employers.

2. Yes, likely on a separate form.
