Spouse Visa Extension - Applying before 28 days

Post by viki83 » Tue Feb 24, 2026 11:13 am

Hi,

Anyone has any experience of applying few days to a week before 28 days expiry rule? The reason I want to apply earlier is that we have a flight booked for 31st of May and the earliest I can apply according to visa expiry rule is 14th of March. I want to take into account biometric appointment booking slot delays. I think in practical terms, processing doesn't start before biometric submission. So lets say if I book biometric appointment date which should be on or after 14th March to be on the safe side but apply around 7th or 8th March, would that be feasible? Or is there any risk?

Not sure what you mean by 28 days expiry rule. You can apply to renew your visa at anytime. The question would be, if you apply too early, would you still have extant leave left for the next phase?
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
