Indefinite Leave To Remain - evidence of cohabiting

Post by sanh » Sat Feb 14, 2009 12:30 pm

Hi,

My wife will be applying for indefinite leave to remain in April. She has been in the UK on a spousal visa. I was looking at the requirements and i need to provide 6 letters/documents with both our names/addresses on them. I dont have one! My wife is a housewife and i support her financially and so we dont have a joint bank account or anything. I can provide 6 letters/documents addressed to her and 6 letters/documents addressed to me and the address on both sets of letters are the same (since we live together). Also since we live with my brother/sis in law i can provide a letter from them saying that we have been living together at that address for the past 2 years. I am just wondering if this is enough. What do you think?

Thanks

San.

form SET(M) wrote:Note 8 We need 6 letters or other documents addressed to you jointly or in both your names. If you do not have enough items in your joint names, you may also provide items addressed to each of you individually if they show the same address for both of you. Examples of acceptable letters and documents are listed below. They must be originals.

Absolutely untrue. Suggest you read the form SET(M) much more clearly, particularly the sentence after the one you are quoting from. See Vinny's quote above.

When my own wife got her ILR not one piece of evidence was in joint names. Nevertheless ILR granted with no problem.

What correspondence does your wife have addressed to her? There must be something! Anything from the GPs surgery. Any children? If so well at least the Tax Credits claim will be in joint names.

Has your wife passed the Life in the UK Citizenship test?
