So judging by what I have read on this forum we now wait till the bill goes to parliament on March 9th? Very ambiguous situation with regard to who is going to be affected.

yes the bill will go in 9th march and they will keep on discusiing arguing.. and few weeks will past then just few days before apri 1st they will say every one including current HSMP holders have to meet those requirements.. thats their plan , so that we get as less time as possible to appply before april!!! so every one suffers any way..

But keeping the HSMP JR history in mind, I have some strong feelings that these rules would only be applicable for New Applicants but planning for the worst. That's the way it is. I am staying positive. Let’s see.

I am waiting till they disclose it completely. I am not taking further stress henceforth as already i have loads of at my work.

I don't think it's something to do with new changes. It looks more related to failure in their payment system. Updating document does not require to stop a section of system.

Why should we wait till the bill is presented in the parliment?
If we can make our points clear with our facts and figures then things might change.

Something about me:
I have been in UK since last 3 years and my HSMP visa is getting expired in the month of september. All I can do is sit and wait like most of the members in this forum because I don't have a Masters Degree and I haven't maintained my balance since last 3 months thinking that wouldn't be needed untill June. I have a Huge mortgage and a permanent job in Central London

Can we all meet before the bill is placed in the Parliment on 9th March.

If we can gather ASAP and take a decision on how to approach any MP or thr right person who can help us in the parliment or take the initial step it would be good.

this is exactly there plan is. to give as less time as possible so that HSMP holders get no time to prepare them selves to apply before april. how pathetic it is, today is march 4th 2009. and they will make drstic change from april 1st 2009 and wants every one to fullfill that law and still there is no guidiline.

Why dont you guys become member of the hsmp forum limited by paying 50 pounds for helping the cause?They have spent so much time/money on HSMP immigration stuff and it would be really helpfull.Iam a member of the group and if u become member,You get reply to the queries posted on the forum by the people who have won Judicial case in the past

Nothing will happen,at least hsmp holders are not affected by it.Hsmp forum cant help this time if law also implies on existing.

UK is behaving like a medieval country now...and they start preaching democracy to others...

Its not rocket science to make it public whether rules will apply to existing visa holders or only to new, or can HSMP switch to Tier I any time. When they plan new rules they exactly know what games they are playing.

They are back to their old business of "Tax/Lagan"

In short term UK will benefit but will definitely affect its image and reputation in long term.

If HO reduces the points currently awarded for holding Master's Degree to that awarded for Bachelors Degree it will be a double whammy. Ppl holding masters too might fail to qualify as there could be a shortfall in points they score on account of the aforementioned reduction in point...... earlier it was a grey area, with all these speculations floating around, the only colour I see is Black.

will UKBA provide some clarity on this, I am affected by this and very much worried, I am now regretting trying to make UK my home and hate to think the efforts I had taken to settle here are in vain. This retrospective rule changes is kind of having hsmp/tier1 holders as a hostage everytime they plan any rule changes.

I am in a state of not being able to renew it right now since I am working in the country for less than 7 months now.

This country DOES NOT respect anyone who tries to make a decent living at thier own cost and pays all their dues to the government, whereas appreciates and provides more to anyone who depend on the government for their livelyhood.

So much for British Government planning ....

Its not just us who are frustrated due to lack of clarity on the matter. See below from House of Lords II day proceedings:

"Until we see the guidance that the Minister said would be forthcoming, we really do not know whether his answer is satisfactory. The reasons why people may have to take advantage of the discretion are manifold; we hope that it will be sufficiently flexible to cover every circumstance that we, from previous experience, know that people may invoke. It is frequently the case with this Bill that we are told guidance is coming along later, but we have no means of really getting our teeth into what is proposed because there is no idea of the nature of that guidance, or of how it will operate in practice."

And with regard to the information on the UK Workpermit website, I only think it is just to make a quick buck and need not necessarily be true.

With a sane head, lets not speculate and wait till the HO comes up with an official statement.
