SAR Report Phone No.

Post by ChetanOjha » Mon Apr 27, 2009 10:24 am

Hi All,

I have asked Home Office to provide me SAR(Subject Access Request) report which should detail all my immigration information.

I have sent them request (letter + PO £10 etc) on 16/03/2009 but so far I have not received any reply from them. Last week, i sent them another request (letter + £10 cheque) with special delivery so I can track whether cheque is cleared from bank?

Does somebody know any telephone no, where I can contact them to get the status of my request? Does reply from HO generally take long time?

Thanks.

I'm in the same situation, I sent the SAR letter on the 13th of May, my cheque hasn't been cashed yet. I just sent them a fax. 0208 760 3541.

I got this info from the link below -
"Where an individual has made a SAR but has specifically requested personal information on themselves making reference to FOIA, the query should be forwarded on immediately by fax (on 0208 760 3394/3541) to the DPU, who will respond appropriately to the applicant. "

I dont think there is anypoint sending cheque and letter again and again, apparently there is a big backlog so you would just need to be pateint. I sent mine on 16th April 09, and got my SAR file today on 12th June.

Just to update, I got my SAR report on the 10th of June.

I also got an email reply, but only after receiving the documents. After sending the fax, I sent an email on the 4th of June to both the UKBA public enquiries email address and the FOI enquiry email address. I got a reply this week from someone from the DPU (data protection unit) saying my request has been processed and when the documents were posted.

So yes, just be patient. Or follow up by email and fax (takes them a week to reply). The email addresses I mentioned are on this page -

And the fax number is in my previous post.

bani,

I have asked for SAR on 8th April and received an acknowledgement letter with DPU reference no. thereafter nothing happened, still no SAR received.

I again send another letter for SAR (with a another chq again) on 4th June09 and again received an acknowledgement letter (with DPU ref) but still no SAR received.

I read that you send an email to them. What is that email address?

They do not generaly provide tax information, they would have info on all your applications that you made with HO, copies of Landing cards etc or any other corespondence that you might have with them.

You should ask specifically for what you need. In my case, I asked for landing cards from trips taken on my previous passport which I lost. They gave me my first arrival information (your first entry on this visa even has a reference number), landing card copy from then. But they couldn't give me arrival info from trips I took later on while on the visa (hence I have no proof of my absences in the UK for first 11 months of HSMP and could only apply for ILR by post). They also sent me all my HSMP applications (original + 2 extensions) and notes caseworkers made in processing those applications. I found out how many points were awarded and what were considered. No information on employers or taxes, they did send me a copy of my employer references though, and in the caseworker notes they typed that I provided p60s and pay slips for my proof of economic activity.

I sent an SAR by mail last week and including my email address in the letter. Just a couple of days ago, I received an email acknowledgment that my request had been received and was being worked on - I was rather surprised at the responsiveness.
