Bank statements

Post by bilqees » Tue Jul 21, 2009 2:45 pm

Hi,

I am applying for extension to stay under Tier-1. Earlier I had EC under HSMP.
For my previous earnings, I am providing my salary slips and bank statements for past one year. Since I do not have original bank statements, I have taken print out of my statements from my Lloyds internet bank account and got them stamped & signed at the local branch.

Do you think this will work out as a 'proper' evidence or I need to arrange for something else?

Thanks.

Policy Guidance Page 25

ii) payments made to the applicant: Bank statements provided must be on official bank stationery, and must show each of the payments that the applicant is claiming. If the applicant wishes to submit electronic bank statements from an online account he/ she should also provide a supporting letter from the bank on company headed paper confirming that the documents are authentic. Alternatively an electronic bank statement bearing the official stamp of the bank issuing the statements will be accepted. This stamp must appear on every page of the statement. For the purposes of this guidance an online bank account is one that operates solely over the internet and sends their bank statements to their customers electronically (for example over the internet or via email).

If I were you, I would log into Lloyds internet banking and apply for last one year's statement. It would take 5 days to reach you.

I have already ordered for the statements but it has already been 8 working days and I still have not got them. Since my visa expiry is quite near, I am just trying to find out how good the stamped & signed statements (which I have obtained from the bank today itself) be.

Dear All,

Can you please clarify on one more doubt on Bank Statement.

ICICI Bank in India provides bank statements on plain paper with a dot matrix print , good thing is that they provide a rubber stamp and sign on each print.

I have read on discussion boards that such bank statements were not accepted and applications were rejected saying that the bank statements didn't have logo of bank on them eventhough they had a stamp and sign on them.

In such a case the clause in the application guide stating the electronic statement necessarily mean that print out should have a Bank logo on them ? can anyone please throw light on this ?

Regards,
Leo

Hi Push,

Thanks for the reply. What I have got are bank satements from ICICI bank on plain paper with dot matrix print but stamped and signed on each page.
These statements do not have printed bank logo on them...just want to confirm that is this in accordance with the teir 1 guide stating 'elcetronic print with stamp on them' ...?

Get a letter from ICICI bank stating that the bank statement provided are original bank statements and attached this letter along with the statements. This would be accepted.

Alternatively, ICICI do provide bank statement on the letter headed paper. Talk to the branch manager and he should be able to do it for you. Though the service might be chargeable.

Showing Previous earnings

Post by rajdelhi1979 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 3:59 pm

I am preparing my application for applying tier 1 in first week of august. I have following question regarding showing my previous earnings :-

1. I will be showing my earning period as 01/07/2008 to 30/06/2009 . Is that ok ?

2. I have stamped and sign salary slips for all 12 months and a bank statement printed with a dot matrix printed on a official stationary with bank logo . Is that ok ?

3. My Pay slips show gross and net income. My net income is what is getting reflected in bank statements. Should i claim points on basis of sum of gross income or sum of net pay for these 12 months ? BTW my points are same in both the cases.

rajdelhi,

First of all, please do not hijack other people's thread/post. You can create your independent thread so that members can contribute to your queries in single thread. Also easy for you to search.
Anyway,
1. I will be showing my earning period as 01/07/2008 to 30/06/2009 . Is that ok ?
Yes. That is fine.
2. I have stamped and sign salary slips for all 12 months and a bank statement printed with a dot matrix printed on a official stationary with bank logo . Is that ok ?
I would recommend to get a letter from Bank saying that statement provided(dot matrix paper) are original and HO can be verified the same from bank. Also mention in letter(if possible) that it is the standard bank statement.
3. My Pay slips show gross and net income. My net income is what is getting reflected in bank statements. Should i claim points on basis of sum of gross income or sum of net pay for these 12 months ? BTW my points are same in both the cases.
You will be using gross income i.e. income before tax and deductions.

Previous Earnings

Sorry for hijack . I am a new member so didn't new the rule.

Regarding my last question, so you are saying even if only my net income is reflected in bank statements then also I should claim points against gross income only ?

Yes. That's correct. Also, your net figure in payslip should match your bank statement exactly.

Thanks for your advice chetanojha.

I am also facing the similar situation as that of rajdelhi1979 and is confused because of the following given in page 24 of the Tier1 General Guidance 310309:

"139. The applicant must provide at least two different types of supporting document for each source of earnings claimed. Each piece of supporting evidence must be from a separate source and support all the other evidence so that together they clearly prove the earnings claimed."

So as per the above, I dont have two documents to prove my gross earnings since my gross salary is mentioned only in the payslips and not in the bank statement.

What should I do. Please advice.

If your NET salary in payslips matches your Bank Statement you are good to go. You have to consider GROSS earnings i.e. before tax and deductions.
