Immigration to Sweden / Denmark

Post by natarap » Mon Jun 02, 2008 11:02 pm

Hi

I am a Danish citizen living in Denmark. My husband is an Indian citizen living in London UK. We thought of settling down in the UK but it did not work out as expected for me. So he is thinking of moving to the nordics. And we feel Sweden is the best suited for both of us. I have a few questions related.

1. How do I get the family permit for my husband in Sweden? Should I move there first before applying for the family permit?

2. Can he apply for the family permit at the swedish embassy in London, even though my address is still in Copenhagen, Denmark?

3. How long will this take.

Please note that I have never exercised treaty rights in any country.

Cheers
Nat

Hi

I did see the details in that site. But what is not clear is...

1. As a danish citizen, I do not need to register in Sweden.
2. I will still continue with my current job in Copenhagen even if I move to Sweden along with him.
3. We have not lived together for in one place yet. We have just been commuting between UK and denmark

Given this situation

a. Can I travel to Sweden with my husband and apply for a residence / work permit there?
b. Can he apply for the work /residence permit at the swedish embassy in London
c) Do I need to have my address established in Sweden before her applies?

Thanks
Nat

This topic interests me as well. My wife is Finnish and we are residing together in the UK but would like to move to Sweden for similar reasons. When I've talked to Migrationsverket in Stockholm they were saying my wife needed a Personnummer (social security/ national id number) even if she has been working in Sweden and as a Nordic citizen does not need a Personnummer and they make it very difficult for her to get one which makes the situation almost a catch 22.
If I understand the Metock case properly one should be allowed to freely move to any EU country without these kinds of conditions. If I find any more information regarding this I will post it here and hopefully other people with experience in this area will be able to comment

If you are referring to my post, I guess I could eventually but I was in the UK as a student and then under the fresh talent initiative for the first 6 years if my residence. If I understand these years don't count towards the 5 years needed to get Indefinite leave to return. I have been in the UK only one year under qualifying terms, so I guess I have 3 years to wait till the 10 year clause applies. It might simplify things, but I'm not sure if we want to wait in the UK for 3 more years before we move.[/i]

How to move to Sweden

Post by eldane » Sun Jul 26, 2009 10:20 am

These links explain how you go about moving to Sweden. They are from a Danish forum with quite an extensive experience in this issue. Mind you everything is in Danish. However, that should not be a problem for you as I understand you are Danish.
Further more - perhaps you could get more precise answers to you questions which are rather country specific on that forum.

Apply according to EU directive 2004/38/EC
http://www.aegteskabudengraenser.dk/for ... f=7&t=3438

In fact they have a complete PDF with 12 pages wich explains in details how to move to Sweden under the above mentioned directive.

Good luck,

Michael

I do not see any reason they can require Personnummer from non-Swedish EU citizens and their non-EU family unless they also require them from Swedish citizens.
