how long is my case delayed for. please help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi i need advic eplease on how long will it takes before i go to usa. am 22, single and my mother filed for me on her green card for me to go over to the usa. my mother filled for me in 2005 of january. i got a letter from usa immigration saying at the time of my acceptance letter i have turned 21 so my application is delayed.

my brother and sister was filled for at the same time in 2005 my application was filled for and they got to go usa this year {2009}. my brother is 17 and my sister is 19.
i thought as long as my mother filled for me before i turned 21 i would have gotten visa the same time as my brother and sister.
does anyone knows how many years or month my application will be delayed for noting the time my mother filed for me and me turning 21.

When you turned 21 you aged out of the F2A category (spouses and children of lawful permanent residents) to F2B (unmarried sons and daughters of LPR). According to the visa bulletin F2A has been waiting since June 2005 and F2B since June 2001. So if everything stays the same you should get your visa in about 4 years, unless you get married in the meantime.

How did your mother get her green card? If through marriage, there may be another option for you.

Were you under 18 when your mother got married? In that case your stepfather can file for you as well. See this discussion in another forum. That would put you in the F1 queue (unmarried sons and daughters of citizens). It would still be a longish wait, but not as long as F2B.

When your mother becomes a US citizen she should upgrade your petition - that will also put you in the F1 queue.

Hi Lisa, since you were under 18 when your mother got married, your stepfather can petition for you under family preference category 1 (Unmarried Sons and Daughters of Citizens). The people who filed in 2003 under this category are now getting visas, so it's a bit of a long wait... but it's better to have two petitions than one. It's a shame your stepfather didn't file for you a few years ago, as you would already have your green card by now.
