Hi,
By the Grace of God and thanks to the guidance received from this forum I was able to switch from WP to Tier 1 (General) for myself, and Tier 1 (General) Dependants for my family. I got my documents today by recorded delivery (forgot to include Special Delivery envelope). Time lines are as follows :
Application type : In country (Within UK)
Points claimed : 105 (85 + 20)
Application sent : Oct 2nd (by next day delivery to Durham)
Payment deducted : Oct 5th
Reference letter : received after 3 days
Visa stamped : Oct 21st
Documents received : Oct 24th( by recorded delivery from Sheffield)
Total turnaround time : 23 days (16/17 Working days)
Again many thanks for all the help and support that is made available on this forum.
Many thanks,
Clint

My HSMP to Tier 1 timeline:
Expiry before application : Jan 01 2010
points claimed : 120 (100 + 20)
Application sent : October 05 (by next day delivery)
Payment deducted : October 06
Reference letter : received after 3 days
Visa stamped : 22 Oct 2009
Documents received : October 24 ( by recorded delivery)
Current Expiry : 22 Oct 2012
Total processing time : 14 working days
Thanks to the forum and the members.
As per my knowledge I suppose to get extension from my previous expiry i.e. 01 Jan 2010 to 01 Jan 2013.
I got current expiry 22 Oct 2012 instead of Jan 01 2013 means 2 months early.
To eligible for PR do I need to go for another extension as i will get short of 2 months?

i find this hard to believe. in your timeframe, you should have only received your decision by this coming week. based on their previous timelines. interesting.!!!

Hi all,
What reason do you give to the home office for an early application? I need to travel 20 days before my visa expires, so was thinking what to do.
Many thanks

You do not have to give any reason that what makes you to apply so early? There is no place in application form for it. However, if you overstay, then there is a place to explain what made you to stay longer than the allowed period? So, just prepare documents and apply for an early extension, without mentioning the reason of early application. By the way, how early your application is from your current visa expiry date?

Heres the link:

NM:
My fees was deducted on the 14th too, and I have not received the reference number either. Since our cases are so close together it would be good to keep in touch about each other's statuses.
Good luck!

Good luck ID, with some luck you should have news this week. Some people who applied in your timeframe got their decisions last week, so keep fingers crossed!
I am assuming you went with self addressed RM SD envelope?

according to UKBA, the application should be in process and should get a result by the end of this week or by next week hopefully

You shouldn't gauge your application by who soon others are getting approval. Comparing other only gives you approximate idea but that should be limited to approximation only, though it helps to stay positive and to calm nerves

but don't take it for granted. Each individual application are different and there may be delayed in decision.
