Help please

Post by mugwagwal » Sun Jan 24, 2010 5:01 pm

Iam a lady aged 31 years and arrived in the U.K in June 2005 as Dependent of Workpermit holder(unmarried partner). My partner is due Indefinite leave to remain and does not want to apply(to spite me) instead would like to go back to our home country were the economy is very unstable and the education is shattered due to frequent strikes by teachers. The current visa expires end of February.I am a qualified nurse and have four children. Can someone advise me on what to do?In which category can i apply under independently?

Thanx

Since you are in UK as a dependent, you are not allowed to switch to other immigration categories (as the main applicant) from within UK .. atleast most of them if not all. You'll have to return to your home country and apply for Entry Clearance there.

Which immigration category you can apply for depends on which scheme you qualify for. See Working in the UK for more details on current schemes and eligibility criteria.
