Work permit to tier 1

Post by absvis » Wed Mar 10, 2010 7:13 pm

Hi All,

I have been on a work permit for about 3 years now. I wanted to know few things about TIER 1 HSMP visa and how to transfer to it. In the current job market and recession, i am having to consider this move.

Firstly i want to know if i do get TIER 1 visa, will the previous work permit years count towards the total five year required for ILR.

Secondly i have three dependents. From various websites, i found out i need £ 533 for each dependent on top of £800 for myself as maintainance. I also do know that i need that for 3 months but i want to know that how much have people previously showed as their bank balances. Is the exact amount okay (£800+£533*4) or do i need to show extra bit more (like maybe a £1000 extra).

What is the procedure to make an application?

Hope someone can help.

Regards

Is the exact amount okay (£800+£533*4) or do i need to show extra bit more (like maybe a £1000 extra). If you have three dependants then you should show a minimum of £800+£533*3, not even a penny less even for a single day in the 3 month period. Dont have to show extra. But having a little extra would cover if you have any sudden unexpected debits.

What is the procedure to make an application? Go through the policy guidance and most of your questions will be answered.

WP to Tier1

Post by absvis » Wed Mar 10, 2010 7:39 pm

Thank for the reply and the links.

Another thing i wanted to know is that do i need to show proof that i studied in a university in the UK and the medium of study was english. Strange as it may sound one of my friend who did his masters from a UK university and applied for HSMP got it rejected mainly because of this reason that although he submitted his UK University degree, he didnt give any proof of the medium of study in the UK University. He was studying Msc computer science (in English).

Do i need to request a letter from my University about this?

No need for a letter from the university. If your degree gives you enough points for the language requirement on the points based calculator, just your degree certificate is enough.

10 Year ILR rule

Post by absvis » Fri Mar 12, 2010 9:05 am

Has it been finalized that now rather then 5 years 10 years will be required to qualify for ILR. What happens to individual who transfer to Tier 1 now? Will 10 years or still 5 years will apply?
