Can I apply for MN1 outside the UK

Post by Masa » Tue Apr 13, 2010 8:14 pm

I have just found out by reading through this great forum that my son who was born in the UK and is now almost 18 month qualifies for registration as a british ..his mother recently got ILR..but i have couple of queries..My son and I applied for visas to settle with her in the UK since we wer not aware of the possibility at the time..but weird things happened on the day i was to submit the applications..i couldn't find the lease agreement and the covering letter ..but found a letter from the estate agent which i submitted instead..so its been 6 dys since i submitted the applications and I am now getting anxious that they might refuse our visas..my question is since my son doesn't require a visa to visit the UK for six months..can he visit his mother and then register a citizen when he gets to UK..or can we apply from Ireland for registratiom..thanks

I believe that immediately after a parent is granted settlement/PR, their child is entitled to register for British citizenship (Section 1(3)), from anywhere.
