Extension for discreationary leave

Post by anneki1258 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 12:29 am

Hi there,

I applied for and extension for "DISCREATIOANRY LEAVE" using the FLR(O) form and paid a fee of £465 in the last week of august so the question is:

(Does anyone have any idea or experince on how long this might take to process?)

Many thanks in advance

No-one could tell you that for sure. Discretionary Leave applications are not exactly high on UKBAs priority list (if at all they have one)! But you could be looking at YEARS, for this one! You'll be lucky to get it in a couple of months....

Thanks Rozen,

Do you mean even for an EXTENSION, I might have to wait years!? Have you had any personal experiance yourself with this?

Many thanks

A ex-colleague of mine (in the UK) was given his first DLR in early 2004 for three years, to be extended for another three years in 2007.
Roll on 2007! His circumstances were still the same as those he had in 2004. So no change there.
Applied for DLR extension in 2007, through a brilliant London solicitor.
Was only granted the extension in March 2009 (after much corresponding back and forth)!
He told me he knew of other people in similar circumstances who had waited as long, or were still waiting, by the time he got his! :(
But on the other hand, he had also heard of a few who got theirs in under twelve months! :)
So when do you think you'll get yours? Your guess is as good as the next person's.... sadly.
