I have completed my Bachelor of Arts (Pass) course from Delhi University in 2001 and want to apply for UK Naric Letter of Comparability to score 'Qualification' and 'English Language' points. Can you please input your ideas on my following questions:
1. I have registred myself on UK Naric website and taken a reference but yet to send my documents photocopy and pay the fee. Will they only start the process once I send them these details?
2. For 'English Language Requirement' points, do I submit a letter from my college confirming that my language of instructions for studies was english. Will this be enough?
3. I am planning to apply for my Tier-1 in 'August 2010'. Is this okey to get 'Letter of Comparability' from UK Naric now.
Thanks
Read para 192 of the Tier 1 policy guidance which will make it clear to you that any such letter from university will not fulfil the conditions mentioned therein.adityak77 wrote:2. Yes , Letter from university is required to be on safe side

Also read para 192-198, which are equally important to understand the documentary evidence(s) needed to prove English language proficiency.

Will a letter from University confirm that your degree is recognised by NARIC as being equivalent to UK bachelors and (also) that its been taught in English language at a standard comparable to level C1 of CEFR??bagula_bhagat wrote: 192: "The degree must be recognised by National Academic Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC) as equivalent to a United Kingdom Bachelor’s degree"
Note: I believe a bachelors degree from Delhi University is considered to be equivalent to UK Bachelors. Moreover DU is on the list of PBS calculator. Para 192 nowhere says that a letter issued by the Uni/College is not acceptable.
If PBS calculator does not give you points for English language, it means that your degree has not been taught to a standard comparable to level C1 of CEFR - even though the PBS calculator might award you points for a "UK equivalent bachelors" degree (qualification).bagula_bhagat wrote:194: "Where the degree was taken in another country we will always assess it using the points based calculator on our website. The calculator contains information from UK NARIC on whether overseas qualifications are equivalent to United Kingdom Bachelors level or higher."
Note: DU is on the list of PBS calculator. However calculator does not give points for english language. (This is confusing)

Read para 198 in the Tier 1 (General) policy guidance *carefully*.hema177 wrote:Hi,
I am also planning to apply for the Tier 1 visa in August this year. I too have a B.A. Pass degree from University of Delhi and English was one of the compulsory subjects. However, the PBS calculator does not award points for English Language for BA although it awards points for Qualification, which is very strange and confusing.
I'd be really grateful if you let me know what you're planning to do in this case. I will be sending my documents to NARIC for assessment of English equivalency but I doubt if they will send a positive assessment/ award points for English since it is not awarded points in the PBS.
Please let me know.
Thanks,
