Re Fund Maintenece - Struggling to get a Letter from Bank

Hello Seniors,

I searched the forums for a specific reply but could not find an accurate/strong answer to my query. Hence thought of initiating a post, if this query has already been answered then please redirect me to the right post.

I hold an account in a UK bank. Now I am in India. For any kind of service I will have to approach the tele customer support. And the service being offered by the customer support officials is pathetic. Even after repeated instructions in calls and emails, I see that they have made lots of mistakes (like in the letter the first 6 digits of the account number is masked, no signature and stamp, etc..) in the letter issued on Fund maintenance. I have original bank statements to show there had been sufficient funds > 2800 pounds for a consistent period greater than 3 months. Can I just submit the 6 months Bank statements as proof for fund maintenance or do I need to show even the letter from the bank confirming the fund maintenance along with the original statements? Please advice.

I doubt whether I could get another letter with all the mistakes rectified because I have my visa appointment fixed on 26th of May and getting a letter before this date might not be possible as I am outside UK.

PS: I cannot postpone my visa date any further as I will not be eligible to claim points for UK experience after 31st May, 2010.

Regards,
Shobitha

If you have original statements issued by the bank then you don't need a supporting letter from the bank.

Clearly mentioned in the policy guidance when one needs a supporting letter from the bank - if one makes an effort to read it!

Hello Susdmehta,

Thanks for the reply.

I apologize for raising a silly query.

I am just trying to be very cautious. I read the guidance, clearly stating about the supporting letter and under what circumstances a letter should be submitted, but I could see most of the people submitting the original statements along with the supporting letters (including some of my friends), which makes me to get confused.

I am sorry if my query has caused any irritation.

Regards,
Shobitha

Hi ,

Regarding your question for funds , i will reply IMO as:

1) You have to be sure that the original bank statement carry your exact name with correct spelling
2) It should mention account type
3) The cash inside the account can be drawn any time 24/7
4) Your deposits which are more than 3 or 6 month old have a clear date ...

Well! a letter from the bank just provide a quick idea to EC officer and once he reads the letter he has set his mind that now he will see account statement . People applying for TIER1 here , most likely do the practice of sending 3 things

1) Bank Letter original

2) Original account statement

3) Cover letter

so if you are sure that all the information is there in your account statement , than good luck!
Thanks

Ali
