Interim Cap for Tier 1 (G) - From outside UK

Post by webmarketingguru » Fri Jul 02, 2010 11:11 am

I have asked this in an another thread but I think it did not get attention... I would much appreciate if any seniors or analysts can clarify this
Tier 1 (General) visa approvals will be limited to the same volumes as the equivalent period in 2009. Volumes of approvals should therefore stay constant, assuming the volume of applications and grants remains the same as 2009 levels. We therefore assume there is no overall reduction in Tier 1 (General) visa approvals as a result of the interim limit. The interim limit will therefore be set at 5,400 for Tier 1 (General) visa approvals for the period July 2010 to March 2011.

Does this mean it does not affect the new applications too much? or, in other words by when do you think it will reach the limit? Please advise...

If your query is regarding the interim cap coming into effect from 19-Jul until April 2011, reading this will help.

The document you refer to in your post above is a consultation document for immigration caps to be introduced from April 2011.

Thanks for the reply sushdmehta. Yes, i am talking about the interim cap coming into effect from this 19 July - I have read this link numerous times now but my bad I still have the following queries which I think you can clarify to me here..

1. What is the actual number of limit between 19-July until April 2011 (is it not disclosed yet?)

2. How soon do you think this limit will get reached? i Plan to apply in October 2010...

Your inputs will help me plan accordingly... Please advise.

Here is one link who gives details about all the cap information. and Cap is implemented on monthly bases.

How will the Temporary Immigration Cap work?

The UK Border Agency will operate the system on a first come first served basis with a limit placed on the number of Tier 1 General Visa applications considered in any one month. If an application is submitted after the limit for a month is reached, the application will be held and considered in the following months limit. Applications will continue to be accepted during the period in which the limit has been reached; however the UKBA will not process the application until the next month. Applications will be held in a queue by order of the date on which they were received. Applications in the queue will be processed when the following month's limit is opened. If application numbers look as though they will exceed the total limit for the whole of the interim period, the UKBA will notify the individual at the time of application. Details of waiting time will be announced on the UK Border Agency Website.

As the Temporary Immigration Cap for Tier 1 General is believed to have been set at 5,400 for the remaining 8 and a half months of the financial year the monthly limits are believed to be:

318 Tier 1 General applications in July 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in August 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in September 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in October 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in November 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in December 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in January 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in February 2010
635 Tier 1 General applications in March 2010
Permanent Immigration Cap Set in April 2010

i have one question to ask?

my real concern about the passport which we use to submit now along with the application.
for suppose if im applying on the month of JAN2011, and their is already 1000 applicant waiting for the passport to be get stamped. so in this case do i need to wait for my passport to have with British embassy for stamping visa ( roughly 2 months +) with respect to the time line figure provided above. i know its a rough figure which is not given by the BIA.

or the new rules allow the applicant to provide their passport once the Q is finished.
