HOW SOON CAN I APPLY FOR AN EXTENSION FROM WITHIN UK

DEAR FRIENDS

MY 3 YEAR INITIAL VISA EXPIRES IN JULY 2012 BUT I HAVE EARNED ENOUGH POINTS TO QUALIFY FOR EXTENSION . SHALL I APPLY NOW OR NOT AS U DONT KNOW ABOUT FUTURE.

thanks for the reply. but my question is very specific 'is there any rule or policy guidelines set by ukba regarding the earliest time for applying for extension?'.

Unfortunately, your initial post doesn't state or hint that. The response was based on the query asked.

Anyhow, to answer your (new) question, AFAIK there is no rule regarding how early one may apply for extension of leave. Therefore, it is UKBA's discretion - depending on (perhaps) the reasons given for early applications.

If you do not mind losing money if the early application is rejected, you may try. Who knows you might just get lucky.
