Post Study Work Dependent Application Requirement

Post by amiky » Sat Jul 31, 2010 5:12 pm

I found out that some good guys are doing a good job here to support others voluntarily in various immigration problems, thats very nice of you all.

I wish to share my own problem here to see if I can get a direction too.

I am here on PSW Visa, and I want to bring my dependent Child from outside UK, I checked on the UKVISA website the documents required are categorised as;

(1) Proof of the relationship to the dependent child.

(2) Maintenance Fund of about £1600 or £533 if main applicant has been in UK more than 12months.

(3) Copy of PSW Visa

----------
a Friend advised me to include Payslip, tenancy agreement as to proof that I can maintain my dependant, but I think this has been covered by Nos (2) Maintenance fund which I have kept for 3 months.

Please can someone share his/her experience about the above listed 3 documents, are they ok, or did you add more documents, if so what are the other documents?
thank you very much in advance

Yes (e.g. - birth certificate with your name as a parent).
amiky wrote:(2) Maintenance Fund of about £1600 or £533 if main applicant has been in UK more than 12months.
If you've been in UK for less than 12 months, then 800+1600. If in UK for more than 12 months, then 800+533.

And copy of personal details pages of passport. Check with local BHC in country of application if these documents (copy of passport + visa) need to attested.

If I were you, I would take the advice given. Payslips and tenancy agreement help as evidence of sponsor's employment / income and availability of adequate accommodation.

Also see PBS dependents policy guidance.

Why 800 again?, But I am not apply for my self as I already have the PSW, I am only applying for 2 dependent, do I need to show only 533 x 2?

As per the guidelines (read them, as advised above), one must have funds for self (800) + funds for each dependent (533 each). On the other hand, there are members who have posted their personal experience that only funds for dependent(s) should be enough to get a dependent visa when applying separately (i.e. - main migrant doesn't need to show 800 for self at the time of dependent application). And there are some others who have posted that they have been refused for the same reason. Therefore, it is difficult to say if the successes have been due to ignorance of the caseworker or whether refusals have been due to wrong interpretation of the guidelines by the caseworker.

It is your risk and the decision has to be yours. You may wish to base your decision on other peoples' experiences and risk your dependent's application or follow what the guidance says and eliminate any risk. For you to decide!
