Copy of Bank Statements + Letter from Bank

Post by felix2010 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 12:59 pm

Hi,

I have received bank statements from Barclays for the past year to use as one of the evidence for earnings proof. But the statements are not on Barclays Stationary. But the bank has accompanied the statements with a letter on their letterhead stating the following:

"Please find enclosed copies of your statement. Due to the way in which we reproduce your statements, you'll notice they are not exact duplicate of your original, but the information is the same"

This letter is addressed to me bearing the same address as in the bank statements sent by them. It is also signed by the Centre Manager at Barclays Leicester branch. Is this evidence valid?

thanks

Depends on caseworker's interpretation of the requirements specified in the policy guidance. This is assuming that only bank logo is an issue here, not other requirements missing out too!

It is just the bank logo on the statements. Everything else is in place. It has the account number and my address details. Also for the last 4 months I have the original bank statements, its for the 8 months prior to that for which I have the copies. This is the 2nd time I will be applying so just a bit tensed. And since I am in India right now, personally going to the bank to get them signed and stamped is not possible.

As per the policy guidelines if there is a letter accompanying the copies it should be enough but I was worried about the wording in the letter, if it has to be something more specific.

Thanks!

I will suggest you to have duplicate copy of your bank statements from Barclays bank. These statements should have similar page number and transaction as in originals. These will look similar to your original statements. If they have just sent you printout on A4 sheets with accompanying letter then I guess it is not very useful. They send similar statements to me, which I did not used.

Now looking at just bank statements, imagine that whether you can believe them or not. If you can believe them then do not use. Use only original or duplicate copy of your bank statements with page number on each page.

The copy has page number on each page and all the transactions that went through. But the format is different from the original and it is indeed on plain A4 sheets and not on bank stationary.

Hi All,

Just got my passport back and pleased to inform that my visa was approved.

I had a couple of things which were slightly worrying:

1) My application was recently refused due to insufficient proof for previous earnings
2) This time though I had all the documents I was still worried because the bank statements I had provided for previous earnings were on plain A4 sheets (not on Bank letterhead) and was accompanied with a letter from bank stating they are authentic (nothing specific other than that)

Despite the above glitches I was granted entry! Thanks to all who are contributing to this forum, wish I had gone through this before I had applied the first time around!
