Dates on bank statement for maintenance funds-URGENT

Post by gaj81 » Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:25 am

Hi all, I am in a great confusion though it's stupid but, you know I don't want to leave any loopholes this time, especially after my application was rejected last month. My query is I will be reapplying for Tier-1 tomorrow, for maintenance funds I am showing Bank statement from HSBC covering a period till 15 of july-10 only, now in this HSBC's account of mine in the month of May I had funds less than GBP 2800 for day or two, hence to top it up I am providing my other fund details in SBI , my problem is this SBI passbook has entries till 7th july only (more than 1 month prior date of my application tomorrow i.e. 10th Aug)and it will be very difficult for me to get it updated till 15th july unlike last time when i had managed it somehow. My concern is month of may where I am using this 2 funds together, but since this SBI passbook has entry till 7th july more than 1 month, will they reject this passbook or would they consider it as I was falling short in the month of May only.FYI, my main account is HSBC & in SBI I hardly had any amount throughout.

From guidance
214. Where evidence from two or more 214. accounts are submitted, we will assess the funds available to the applicant using:
• the most recent closing balance of one account, plus
• any additional money available to the applicant on the date of that closing balance, for which the applicant has provided the required evidence.
We will always use the closing balance date from the account that most favours the applicant.
Going by this, I understand that the HSBC favors the applicant. Hence if the closing balance of the HSBC account were to used, there is no entry corresponding to these dates in SBI statements. On the other hand, the ones from SBI can't be used as the last transaction is 7th July which is one more than one month.

It would be better to update the SBI transactions. Try adding meager amounts to the SBI account and you could take an updated statement based on that.

Quoting from the guidance:

"Where evidence from two or more 214. accounts are submitted, we will assess the funds available to the applicant using:
• the most recent closing balance of one account, plus
• any additional money available to the applicant on the date of that closing balance, for which the applicant has provided the required evidence."

Clearly it means you can show multiple account statements.

In your case, you can highlight the lowest combined amounts individually in your statements for the period when its minimum.
Thanks,
Sumit.
