Child's Tier 1 dependent visa

I am currently based in the UK on a Tier 2 workpermit. In the next couple of weeks, I intend to apply for a Tier 1 visa for myself, spouse and our newborn baby. I am fairly clear on the documents required for myself and spouse. Could you please guide me on any extra documentation that may need to be submitted for the child's application (other than additional maintenance funds)?

New-borns / infants / children aren't classified separately. Just as a spouse is, a child (new born or older) is also a dependent.

And documentary evidence(s) needed .. for dependent applications ... is the same across the board.

So you mean that original birth certificate for infant is not an officially required documentation for the purpose of Tier 1 dependent application for an infant?

The law requires that evidence of relationship with main migrant be provided at the time of dependent application - across the board. The actual document(s) to prove the relationship may vary depending on who the dependent is!

Unfortunately, you cannot prove your relationship with the child on the basis of a marriage / civil partnership certificate, so common sense suggests that relationship with such dependent be proved using an appropriate documentary evidence - a birth certificate naming the parents!
