Travelling out of UK with ILR

Post by king_kong » Thu Sep 09, 2010 10:00 am

Hi all,
I recently got my ILR, and was curious about a statement in the letter they gave me, which sounds like its my responsibility to get immigration stamp while leaving the country, and if I dont do it, its my responsibility to prove my date of departure etc etc, and if I dont do so, I have to provide some documents.

Has any of the ILR holders travelled abroad, and if so can you please clarify what needs to be done?

Thanks and regards.

When re-entering the UK, you would be subject to the returning residents rules. So, you may need to show that you haven't been away for longer than 2 years.

That was really helpful.
From what I understand most of the complications arise if I come back after 2 years.
In my case, its just a short 2 week trip to India on holidays. So its not that complicated - am I right?

2 weeks shouldn't be a problem.
