Tier 1 (G) Dependant Query, I've not found relevant answers

Post by jenniferjin » Fri Sep 10, 2010 4:23 pm

I've been in the UK for more than 12 months and have been granted a Tier 1 General Visa. However, I'm going back to my home country to help my husband to apply for the Tier 1 General dependant visa. Theoretically, the maintence funds should be 800+533pounds. Since I'm going back to my home country on holiday to help him apply (outside the UK), should this amount be changed to 2800+1600 for the application. Your help is appreciated! :D

Cheers sushdmehta! Sorry for being so unsure, but do you know any paragraph on the official website explaining this situation. As I read through the guidance and immigration rule, they state:

"If the Tier 1 Migrant is outside the United Kingdom or has been present in the United Kingdom for less than 12 months, each family member of the Tier 1 Migrant must show that he/she, the Tier 1 Migrant, or (for children) his/her other parent who is also legally present in the United Kingdom has at least £1600 to support him/her; this is in addition to any funds the Tier 1 Migrant needs to prove he/she has enough money to support himself/herself."

Since Tier 1 G main applicant outside the UK should show 2800 pounds, I am still not sure about the 800+533.

Thanks again sushdmehta!

Being outside the UK on a holiday is not same as being "resident outside" the UK.
