Arrival in the UK

Post by whiteroses » Sun Sep 19, 2010 9:25 pm

I am leaving for the UK soon, to start my course, and wanted to know what the immigration at Heathrow will be like. Someone told me that I need health certificates and will also have a health check there, but the university told me nothing about this. Can someone please give me advice on what to do/expect?

If you are not a citizen of the EU, EEA or Switzerland wrote:If you come from certain countries and want to stay in the UK for more than six months, we will normally ask a medical inspector to examine you. If you have a UK pre-departure tuberculosis (TB) detection certificate, please give it to the officer when you arrive.

I did read that. However, a friend of mine applied through an agent and was told that he must present a chest x-ray plus report, and a list of vaccinations that he has had (with certification from his doctor), for the purpose of immigration checks upon arrival at the airport as he is from Asia.

Click on the links above for more info. Having a recent x-ray may save you from being re-x-ray at the airport.

Thanks for the info.
As I am leaving tomorrow, I don't think I will be able to get an x-ray done now. My university made no mention of this, otherwise I would have had a chest x-ray done. I had a chest-xray done in April, but I don't have a report specifically for that, as I was having surgery and it was only mentioned in my discharge report, so I guess I cannot show that.
